I got a Sabertooth P67 so why not get something else with a cover? I was curious that people were reporting drops of 1-3C after installing this backplate. It didn't make sense since there was no significant contact to increase thermal dissipation. The plate is attached with 12 screws but there isn't any thermal paste on the backplate, the area around the GPU has a pad to prevent damage, but it is not a thermally conductive pad. What I found out during the installation which could explain the lowered temperatures at idle is that after removing the 12 screws and reinstalling them, people are increasing the torque. This in turns leads to a slightly tighter fit between the GPU and the heatsink, thus lowering temperatures by 1-3C.
